“It's not worth blaming journalists about the fact that in the West, Belarus is always associated with Lukashenko”
Discussion between two Belarus in Focus 2013 jury members, laureate Argemino Barro, and Belarusian journalists on why Belarus is overwhelmingly assoiated with the dictatorship in international media.
’Belarus in Focus 2013’ is the third edition of a competition for journalists and others writing about Belarus for international media.
Holding this competition each year, we wish to encourage journalists (and editors) to pay attention to ongoing events and trends in Belarus – political, economic, social, and cultural.
By creating a place for exchange and debate, we hope to contribute to journalistic understanding about Belarus and, consequently, the level of interest among the international public about events taking place in Belarus - a country on the E.U’s eastern border.
Please feel welcome to join our Facebook event!
‘Belarus in Focus’ is organized by Solidarity with Belarus Information Office (SBIO) in collaboration with Press Club Belarus and Press Club Polska, and supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and NIRAS.
